Thomas A. Ferguson, 81, of Lapel, passed away Feb. 24, 2017, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital in Anderson following a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 30, 1935, in DuBois, Pennsylvania, to Perry A. and Hattie (Dent) Ferguson.
Tom was graduated from DuBois High School in 1954. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Infantry 3rd Division and served in Germany. He was retired from Brockway Glass in 2001 with 45 years of service in maintenance. He was an avid bowler, bowled 35 consecutive years in the Nationals, inducted into the Anderson Bowling Hall of Fame and served on the bowling association for many years. He made all trophies for the Special Bowlers League. Tom was a lifelong member of the Eagles Aerie 174, in Anderson.
Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Peg (Johnson) Ferguson; daughter, Tammy (Ferguson) Blake. of Anderson; grandsons, Christopher Blake, of Anderson and Devon Yusnukis, of Lapel; brothers, Perry (wife, Bernie) Ferguson, of Hermitage, Pa., and Ron (wife, Beverly) Ferguson, of DuBois, Pa.; brother-in-law, Robert Johnson, of Brockport, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 N. Main St., Lapel, with Rev. Larry Bigham officiating. Burial will follow in Brockway, Pennsylvania, at a later date.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home.
Memorial contribution may be made to Special Bowlers League of Anderson.
