Vivian A. (Rigney) Groover, 85, Frankton, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Edgewater Woods in Anderson following an extended illness.
She was born March 6, 1932 in Anderson to Allen and Dorothy (Cox) Rigney and has lived in Frankton since 1973. Vivian received her GED from Alexandria High School and was a Certified Nursing Aide. She retired from Riverview Hospital in Noblesville after 20 years. She also did private home duty nursing. She was a member of Zion Chapel in Elwood for 26 years. Vivian was a gifted musician who could play a variety of instruments and she enjoyed collectibles including her dolls. She was very fond of and blessed by the Gaither Homecoming videos. Vivian loved her family dearly and family time was very precious to her.
Survivors include her three daughters, Brenda Bess, Elwood, Triena Frasure, Frankton and Regina Bess, Anderson; son, Jack (Sherry) Bess II, Elwood; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; step-son, Jim (Sandy) Groover, Van Wert, Ohio; sister, Linda Martin, Tipton; several nieces and nephews; and special four-legged friend and companion, "Tassie."
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Carma Bess in 2014, two grandsons, Kerry Jellison and Rob Jellison; sisters, Annie Gray and Christine Ellis; and brother, Harold "Bud" Rigney.
Services celebrating Vivian's life and legacy will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria with Rev. Jack Bess II officiating. Interment will follow in K of P-IOOF Cemetery in Frankton. Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American heart Association through the funeral home.
