Willie "Bra" Jones Sr., 82, went to be with the Lord and Savior on April 10, 2017, at his residence.
Willie was born April 30, 1934, in Doddsville, Mississippi, to the late Eulie and Maggie Mae Jones.
Willie loved working for Delco Remy and retired in 1996 after 30 years of employment. He was the head deacon at Miracle Faith Temple, where he was a devoted member. Willie enjoyed working on cars and he truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family, friends and cousin Bishop John H. Stewart.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 65 years, Thelma Collins Jones; sons Willie L. (Elaine) Jones Jr., Leroy (Delphine) Jones, James (Donna) Jones, David (Totekia) Jones, Lee (Phoebe) Jones, Joseph (Tamekia) Jones all of Anderson, and Tristan (Nichole) Twilley of Indianapolis; daughters Patricia A. Nunn, Dorothy (John) Jones, both of Anderson, Tarmeaka (Carnius) Gory, Nina (Min. Malcom) Gaines of Las Vegas, Nevada, Octavia McDade of Indianapolis; sister Eula Mae Wheeler of Anderson, Janie Gibson of East St. Louis, Illinois; sister-in-law, Charlotte Bird of Anderson; 61 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Eulie and Maggie Mae Jones; grandchildren Timmy, David Jr., Bryan, Willie III and Peter Jones; great-grandchildren Jaquoris M. Smith, Shaquessa D. Brisker, Marterion Brown; sister Maude Jones Wheeler; brothers-in-law R.B. Wheeler Jr. and Joseph Campbell.
Services will be held at noon Friday at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, 2124 Cedar St., Anderson, with the Rev. Ray Lee Tolbert officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the church.
