Albert Donald Miller ('Sing') Obituary

Muncie, Indiana - Albert "Sing" Donald Miller, the only child of Alma and Bert Miller, passed away peacefully with his wife Betty at his bedside on April 7, 2026, at Ball Memorial Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and devoted service to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A proud resident of Jay and Delaware Counties for 78 years, Sing lived a life rich with joy, friendship, and purpose. He graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1965 before going on to earn his B.A. degree from Ball State University in 1969, followed by Master's Degrees in Mathematics and Social Studies.

Sing's passion for education shaped everything he did. Over a distinguished 32-year career as a math teacher, largely at Anderson Highland High School, he touched the lives of generations of students. He also shared his knowledge through night courses at Ivy Tech and Anderson University for Purdue. In retirement, he proudly returned to his alma mater, Ball State University, serving as an adjunct instructor in the Mathematics Department for five years.

Outside the classroom, Sing was equally beloved. His affable nature, unique sense of humor, and love of a good debate made him a friend you were always glad to see. During his years in Muncie, he was an avid and competitive tennis player, regularly competing in tournaments at Cardinal Creek. He also loved fishing, travel, and movies. He was a devoted, longtime member of the Dunkirk Moose Lodge, serving as Administrator and in other leadership roles. He was also a dedicated member of the Dunkirk American Legion, and he cherished his weekly lunches with fellow Anderson Highland teachers — a group who call themselves "The Brotherhood."

At his core, Sing was a man who loved people. His greatest joys were simple and true: good conversation, meaningful connection, and being of service to the people and organizations he held dear.

Sing was a one-of-a-kind husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, and he will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Betty; his daughters, Kristie Christeon and Heather Hendrixson; his son-in-law, Jack Christeon; his sister-in-law, Judy Hamilton; and his grandsons, Miller Hendrixson and Finn Hendrixson.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 10, at MJS Funeral Home in Dunkirk, with a private burial in Gardens of Memory in Muncie, Indiana.
