Montgomery, AL - Alfonzo "Mombo" Johnson, passed away May 12, 2026.

Alfonzo was born June 20, 1947 in Auburndale, Florida, to Charles Johnson and Hattie Mae Davis Johnson. He graduated from George Washington Carver High School in Montgomery, Alabama, attended Alabama State University, drafted to the Green Bay Packers and retired from General Motors.

Alfonzo volunteered coaching softball, soccer, basketball, football and loved spending time with family and friends.

Alfonzo leaves to cherish his memories, wife, Jean Johnson; daughters, Angelia Flowers, Tracey Roberson; son, Harry Roberson; sisters and brothers, Charles Johnson, Callie Mae (Clarence) Johnson, Levita White (Carl) White, Nocha Johnson, Robert (Tina) Johnson, Allen Johnson Douglas (Pam) Johnson, Wanda (Arthur James) Chillous; seven grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church, 230 W. 14th St., with visitation two hours prior to service. Burial in Maplewood Cemetery.
