Anderson, Indiana - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara "Barb" Scharnowske, who went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Anderson, Indiana.

Born on Nov. 6, 1949, Barb was the daughter of the late John and Gladys (Lewis) Frossard.

A proud graduate of Anderson High School, Barb furthered her education at Ball State University and Indiana University, earning a master's degree in education. Her passion for teaching embodied her generous spirit, and she dedicated 35 years of her life to nurturing and inspiring young minds at Anderson Community Schools until her retirement.

Barb married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Scharnowske, on Aug. 15, 1970, and together they created a beautiful family.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Bob; daughters, Amy Newland, Laura (Matthew) Morris, and Kristin (Raymond) Coyne; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Ian and Trevor Newland, Barrett and Brendon Morris, and Kara and Patrick Coyne.

She will also be remembered lovingly by her siblings, J. Michael Frossard, Julie (Ron) Patterson, Nancy (Jerry) Brennan, and Joe (Michele) Frossard, along with her sister-in-law, Denise Roberts; numerous nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many loving friends.

Barb was a devoted member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, where her faith and commitment to her community were an integral part of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gladys Frossard; her brother, John Robert Frossard; as well as many other loved and cherished family members.

A visitation for Barb will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory-Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 2801 Lincoln St., Anderson. Burial will take place in Maplewood Cemetery immediately following Mass.
