Pendleton, Indiana - Billie Jo Boutwell, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at age 98 on Jan. 28, 2026, at Rawlins House in Pendleton, and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was born July 18, 1927, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Carl and Edna Jones. Having lost both parents before age six, Billie, along with her sister Shirley and brother Carl Jr., was raised at the Madison County Children's Home, where she came under the godly influence of her governess, Olive Williams. After leaving the Home, Billie, Shirley, and Carl Jr. lived together in Anderson, until military service and marriage separated them.
Billie found employment at Guide Lamp, from which she retired in 1981. It was at Guide where she met Frank Boutwell, whom she married on May 7, 1955. After retirement, she and Frank enjoyed many pleasant years in Clearwater, Florida, where Billie delighted in spontaneous day trips, bridge games, and making her home an especially warm and welcoming destination for family and friends. Her easy laughter, generous nature, and cooking skills endeared her to many people.
She and Frank were members of Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater for over 20 years. Billie also attended Bayside Community Church in Safety Harbor, Florida, until moving back to Anderson in 2016.
In addition to her parents, Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; son, William Brandt; sister, Shirley Turner; and brother, Carl Jones Jr.
She is survived by a daughter, Suzi Armstrong (husband Don) of Commerce Township, Michigan; son, Gregory Boutwell (wife, Darlene) of Pendleton; grandson, Doug Wood (wife, Lisa) of Farmington Hills, Michigan; granddaughter, Leslie Kiesel (husband, Jason) of Saline, Miochigan; and four great-grandchildren, Catie Keller (husband, Jake) of Geneva, Indiana, Lily Wood of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Audrey Kiesel and Clayton Kiesel, both of Saline, Michigan.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Rawlins House for their excellent care of Billie during the past four years.
A memorial service for Billie is planned for noon Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, at Geist Community Church, 6697 W. 900N, McCordsville, with Pastor Matt Walker presiding.
