Charlie H. Adams
Charlie Herbert Adams, 94, Frankton, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 13, 2019, surrounded by his family following a well lived life.
He was born April 22, 1925, in Montgomery, Tennessee, the son of Dan E. and Maggie Adams. On Dec. 4, 1944, he married Mary Alice Silvey and they shared 49 years and six children together before her death in 1994. He married Jennie A. (Hickman) Douglas on Oct. 24, 1995. Charlie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Orestes. In 1987 after 42 years of service, Charlie retired from Guide Lamp where he worked as a buffer. Charlie will be remembered for loving to sing songs and tell stories of the old days from his front porch to his family and friends. His hobbies included fishing and taking out his beagle hounds to run in the woods. Charlie will be greatly missed but lovingly remembered by his dear family.
Charlie is survived by his wife of more than 24 years, Jenny Adams of Frankton; two sons, Bill (wife, Peggy) Adams of Anderson, Chuck (wife Diana) Adams of Frankton; four daughters, Wanda Etchison of Frankton, Kathy Pendley of Greenfield, Anita (husband, Richard) Hetrick of Pendleton, and Laura (husband, Mike) Biggs of Frankton; four stepchildren, Shirley (husband, Brian) LaShure of Marcellus, Michigan, Nora (husband, Brian) Spencer of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mark Douglas of Alexandria, and Kevin Douglas of Alexandria; 23 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; six great-great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Maggie Adams; his first wife, Mary Alice (Silvey) Adams; three sisters, Margaret Eden, Margie Eden, Ella Taylor; and stepson, Jimmy Douglas.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, at Harper and Dunnichay Funeral Home. A service to celebrate his life will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with his son-in-law, Pastor Mike Biggs officiating. Burial will follow in the K of P & I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Frankton.
Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church of Orestes through the funeral home.
