Health fair offering free screenings ANDERSON - Free health screenings will be available during the Public Health Fair at Vermillion Place Assisted Living, 449 Main St., from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m Thursday. For more information, call Vermillion Place at 622-7825. Lapel Legion sets meal, race event LAPEL - Lapel American Legion will have a chicken/beef and noodle dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The menu includes chicken noodles, beef noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, hot rolls, desserts, tea and coffee for $7. On Sunday, the Sons of the American Legionaires will host a Daytona 500 party. The legion will open at noon and have chili, hot dogs and barbecue sandwiches for purchase. NASCAR memorabilia will be raffled off. Doctor to speak at 'healthy heart' event ANDERSON - Dr. Doug Nam will discuss heart health during a "healthy heart seminar" at 2 p.m. Friday at Crown Pointe Communities, 2727 Crown Pointe Circle. Roller derby plans Mardi Gras bout ANDERSON - East Central Roller Derby will present the Mardi Gras "Show Us Your Hits Bout!" on Saturday at the Anderson Roll Arena. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the action starts at 5:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. The cost is $5 for children ages 2-12 and free for those under 2. Suicide seating is reserved for those 18 and older. Door-prize drawings for children will be held during halftime. B Movie Monsters, a Fort Wayne-area band, will play the halftime show. Come dressed in Mardi Gras attire.
