Anderson, IN - Cynthia L. (Barnes) Vajner, 92, of Anderson, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Primrose in Anderson.

She was born on May 3, 1933, in Anderson, the daughter of A.O. and Mary Helen (Watts) Barnes.

Cynthia was a graduate of Anderson High School and Purdue University. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She was a loving wife and mother, who stayed home with her three children along with working as the bookkeeper for A.O. Barnes Company.

She was active in Tri Kappa Sorority and Beaux Arts Club. She loved traveling with her husband John, and working in her beautiful flower gardens.

She is survived by her sister, Betsey Bachman; sons, John Edward (Esther) Vajner and Barnes Allen (Brenda) Vajner; nine grandchildren, John (Amanda) Vajner III, Christopher Vajner, Cooper (Virginia) Vajner, Spencer Vajner, Brittany (Brent) Woolard, Brandon (Anna) Vajner, Brooke (Jacob) Folkner, Thomas Janovsky, Jillian (Karol) Konarski; and six great- grandchildren, Bailey Vajner, Tenley Vajner, Landon Folkner, Addyson Folkner, Elliot Vajner, Vivian Konarski; and her dear friend and neighbor, Ellen Hensley.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, John E. Vajner; and her daughter, Jessica Janovsky.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
