E. Dwight Weedman Obituary

Anderson, Indiana - E. Dwight Weedman passed away on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025.

Dwight was born on Feb. 9, 1935, to Earl O. and Edna P. (Walters) Weedman in Anderson, Indiana. He was raised and went to school there in Anderson. He lived in Chesterfield, where he raised his family, before returning to Anderson for his final years.

Dwight is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Juanita K. Weedman; his son, Jeffrey (Cheri) Weedman; his daughter, Roz (Ron) Wismer; grandchildren, Daniel Wismer, James Wismer, Mark (Guisselle) Wismer, Carl (Christine) Weedman, Tatiana (Alex) Brody; and his great-grandson, Braxton Brody.

Dwight was predeceased by his parents; siblings; and youngest son, Daniel Clifton Weedman. Dwight and Dan are likely trading puns together again!

As a teen, Dwight was quite an entrepreneur. He worked at and delivered newspapers for The Anderson Herald, built model airplanes, held a private pilot's license, and operated a small printing business.

In 1953, he graduated from Anderson High School (and remained a lifelong fan of AHS basketball). A week after graduation, Dwight started his career at General Motors (both Guide Lamp and Delco Remy). He retired after 39.5 years.

Dwight's faith and family were his main focuses. He attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church as a child and remained an active participant throughout his life. His activities included serving in the Youth Group, as Church Secretary, in Leadership and Governing Board positions, and as a Song Leader and choir member.

As a father, he lived by example: he was faithful in his work and saved and promoted a college education for his children, even though he had been unable to attend college himself.

After retirement, Dwight remained very active in volunteer work with the Anderson Public Library, the Madison County Literacy Coalition, and The Salvation Army. He enjoyed engaging with those for whom English was a second language.

Dwight received excellent care from the staff at Northview Health and Living and Keystone Woods, and from caregivers Dana, Christy, and others who attended to his health needs. He provided opportunities to do wheelchair exercises, tell dad jokes and puns, play Bingo, paint, and keep his phone charged and working.

In honor of Dwight, whenever anyone asks us, "How are you feeling?" We will respond as he taught us, "with our fingers."
