ALEXANDRIA [mdash] Earl "Junior" Savage, 85, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, at Keystone Woods in Anderson following an extended illness.
He was born on Sept. 24, 1934, to Earl and Mary Ellen (Morris) Savage, and has lived in Alexandria all of his lifetime. Junior retired from Delco Remy in 1987 after 34 years of employment. He had an avid interest in antique and collector cars and has exhibited in hundreds of car shows down through years, which was a past time he enjoyed with his late wife Rose Mary. Junior was a jack of all trades and a master mechanic.
He was a member of Alexandria Eagles 1771. For several years, Earl enjoyed CB radio from his home and was known by his two handles,"KNJ0500" and "3rdandPlum." Mostly, he was a people person and will be fondly remembered as always asking you to sit and chat a while.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Kayla (Dan) Warren of Anderson; great-grandsons, Nathaniel Warren and Elijah Warren; several additional grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sharon Savage; sons, Earl (Tammi) Savage Jr., and Jerry (Marsha) Savage; daughter, Connie (Kenyon) Burton; several brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rose Marylou (Evernham) Savage in 2006; two sons, Jeff Savage and Mark Savage; and several other family members.
Services honoring Junior's life and legacy will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with the Rev. Anthony Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery, Alexandria.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday prior to the services at the funeral home. The Alexandria Eagles will conduct a memorial service at 12:45 p.m., prior to the 1 p.m. service. If weather permits, those with collector cars are invited to drive them in Junior's funeral procession.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association with envelopes available at the funeral home or at alz.org.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Keystone Woods, Heartland Hospice and Jessica Norris.
Owens Funeral Home is honored to care for Junior and serve the Savage family
