Freda Stroup

FRANKTON [mdash] Freda "Pauline" Stroup, age 93, of Frankton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, at Grand Haven Living Center in Lansing, Michigan, following a long and well-lived life.
She was born on December 5, 1925, in Elwood, to the late Elmer and Minerva (Brooks) Tucker.
On September 26, 1947, she married the love of her life, Otto C. Stroup, Jr., and they shared more than 40 years together before his death in 1988.
Pauline was a 1944 graduate of Elwood High School. She and her husband Otto owned and operated the Stroup Insurance Agency in Frankton for many years. She also previously worked at Morris Dime Store in Elwood and at the Anderson Daily Bulletin newspaper. Pauline loved to fellowship and spend time with people. She was a devoted member of the Frankton Christian Church for more than 70 years. She was also a member of the Christian Crusaders Women's Circle, the Chummy Chatters Club, and the Association of Widowed Persons. When Pauline moved to Independent Senior Living and Assisted Living facilities, she attended every event, party and social activity they had. She was well known throughout the facilities by staff and residents as the social butterfly. She also continued to attend weekly church services.
Pauline loved reading (especially local newspapers), playing cards, traveling and baseball (she was a diehard Cubs fan).
Pauline is survived by her son, John (Kate) Stroup of Pittsboro, Ind.; daughter, Janet (Martin) Kochmann of Lansing, Mich.; grandson, Tony Stroup; granddaughters, Jenny (Robert) Plummer and Kelly Allard; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special family friend, Phil Ley.
Pauline was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Tucker; mother, Minerva Tucker; husband, Otto C. Stroup, Jr.; two brothers, Addison Tucker and Charles Tucker; and three sisters, Doris Woodring, Dorothy Tucker, and Mary G. Tucker.
Funeral service celebrating Pauline's life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, at Frankton Christian Church with Pastor Roger Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in the K of P and IOOF Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home, 305 Sigler St., Frankton, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Frankton Christian Church.
