George William Leicht ('Bill') Obituary

Gilbert, AZ - George William "Bill" Leicht, 84, of Gilbert, Arizona, was called home by our Lord on Jan. 17, 2026. He fought complications of pneumonia bravely with the support of his loving family who surrounded him in his final days.

Bill is survived by Beth, his wife of 61 years, whom he referred to as the love of his life. They were married in Anderson, Indiana, and welcomed three children who also survive.

His children are Kymberly (Jerry) Marshall-Brown of Mesa, Gregory (Carol) Leicht of Gilbert, and Bradley Leicht of Tempe.

Bill was blessed with eight grandchildren including McKenna (Jared) Baker, Krysten Marshall, Kennedy Brown, and Gerald (Cherise) Green as well as Alexis (Greg) Carter, Sara Leicht, Ellie Leicht, and Megan Leicht. Bill adored his great-grandchildren, Mia and William Baker, Jack and Levi Carter, and Halle, Jaden and Demi Green.

Bill was born and raised in Anderson, Indiana, where he graduated from Anderson High School in 1960. Following high school he joined the army reserves. He met his future bride at a football game, and married Beth after his basic training. Bill earned his associates degree from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. They moved their family to Arizona in 1979.

The Leicht family joined Church of Epiphany upon their arrival where he has faithfully served and worshipped for 47 years. Bill earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Phoenix in 1995.

Beyond his love of family, Bill will be remembered for his love of all sports. Bill was a season ticket holder for the Arizona Cardinals for 40 years following them to the Super Bowl in 2009. He also enjoyed Arizona State sports including basketball and football. He attended ASU's Rose Bowl appearances in 1987 and 1997. No sports were more important than the ones his family played. He supported Kym's cheerleading and coached Greg's baseball and basketball. Bill proudly sponsored the Chandler Girls Softball teams for Alexis and Ellie. He supported Gerald's football at Arizona State and Jaden's football at University of Washington. He most recently attended Ellie's signing to play softball at King University. He didn't miss a game, a dance recital, a cheer showcase, concert or school event. The family is devoted to Special Olympics golf where Bill played as a unified partner for many years where he earned gold, silver, and bronze medals.

Bill's life was celebrated at Church of Epiphany in Tempe on Saturday, Jan. 31 at noon.
