George  Pitcock
ALEXANDRIA -- George Pitcock, 92, passed away on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, at Northview Health and Living in Anderson following an extended illness.
He was born on April 24, 1927, in Scottsville, Kentucky, to Thomas Harley and Ruby (Walker) Pitcock and had lived in Alexandria for the past 74 years. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1948.
George had worked as a cement finisher for Local 92 of Anderson for more than 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the Madison County 40&8. He also was a member of the Community Church in Alexandria. He was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and enjoyed watching NASCAR.
Survivors: wife, E. Carolyn Pitcock, married Dec. 31, 1971; stepdaughter, Barbara Johnston, Alexandria; stepson, Ronald Rumple, Alexandria; sister, Lorraine Contreraz, Portage; brother, Guy Pitcock, Chesterfield; half brother, David Pitcock in Florida; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents; a stepmother; a stepson, Kenneth Rumple; and several siblings.
Services honoring George's life, legacy and faith will take place at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, at the Noffze Funeral Home, 501 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Pastor Pat Robbins officiating. Friends may call at the Noffze Funeral Home on Tuesday after 1 p.m. prior to the services.
Because of inclement weather, the family has chosen to not go to the cemetery and will hold a committal service with military honors at the funeral home following the service. Private interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Community Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
Noffze Funeral Home is honored to care for George and serve the Pitcock family.
