Georgia Gracie Ward
Georgia "Gracie" Ward, 76, passed away Sept. 10, 2019, surrounded by family.
She was born May 19, 1943, to Otis Sr. and Alice Ward in Montevallo, Alabama, and moved to Anderson, Indiana.
She graduated from Anderson High School and joined Second Missionary Baptist church at an early age, where she was baptized. Gracie was a member of SMB choir and assisted in the leadership of the junior usher board. She was employed by St. John's Health System for 25 years.
Gracie's hobbies included baking, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren and cousin Mildred, "Mikki" Lewis.
Gracie is survived by one daughter, Kavata (Walid Artest); grandchildren, Avery Hopkins, Walid Artest Jr., Nassim Artest and Fantah Windham; great- granddaughter, Violet Hopkins; nieces, Margaret Ward, Carmita (Charlie Anderson), and Leta George; nephews, James Journey, Keith George; and friends and relatives.
Gracie was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Alice Ward; sister, Ruby Inez Ward; brother, Otis Ward; cousin, Catherine Duncan.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Second Missionary Baptist Church, 230 w. 14th St. Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to noon with services immediately following with the Rev. William O'Neal officiating.
The family would like to thank St. Vincent Hospital and hospice, Rev. O'Neal, and Mikki Lewis.

Thanks to Grandmother Ward and Ms. Gracie for helping me to raise all my children!!!! They were the best caregivers and she was the best cake maker on the planet!!!

This time of loss to family and friends is a season that we have entreated into because God's word says " to everything
there is a season" I reminisce over past years that we began to grow from childhood to adult years. Georgia Grace was a very loving and kind person. I pray that the God of peace sustain the Ward family in this season of loss.

Ms. Gracie You will definitely be missed but I do have comfort knowing where your going😇. I first met u almost 20yrs ago when you started babysitting for me!
