Anderson, Indiana - Hobart "Wayne" Couch, 93, a lifetime resident of Anderson, and currently Warsaw, passed away on Aug. 2, 2026, surrounded by family.
Born in the humble town of Bulls Gap, Tennessee, on July 19, 1933, to Omery and Cora (Everhart) Couch.
He served as a respected plumber and steamfitter for Local 440 for 55 years before he retired in 1996. Before that he drove a truck for Emge Packing Co.
Outside of his professional life, Wayne was a man of varied interests. From showing horses and camping to fishing and playing softball and bowling.
Wayne's heart was always with his family. He was a devoted husband to the late Mary Ann Couch, with whom he shared 70 beautiful years of marriage.
He is survived by three daughters, Teresa Evans, Christina Price and Sheila (Pete) DeLongchamp; grandchildren, Lyddia (Brian) Chafin, Dawnitta (Don) Trafan, Cameron Price, and Patrick (Jessica) Price. His great-grandchildren, Hanna Pratt, Morgan, Sophia, Ayva and Turner Price, August (Augie) Price, Casey, Caleb, and Colin Chafin, Don and Payton Trafan.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Ruby, Ruth, Edna, Evalyn, and Barbara; brothers, Kyle, Bill, Gene, Chuck and Jim; and a grandchild, Stephanie Price.
Visitation for Wayne will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026, at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating his life will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Russell Brashear officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Mary.
Wayne's life was a testament to the power of love, the value of hard work, and the beauty of family. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humanity, and unyielding love. His influence will forever be part of our lives, and his memory will always bring a smile to our faces.
