Anderson, Indiana - Janet M. Sandefur, age 83, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away on Aug. 7, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent in Indianapolis following a sudden illness.

Born on Nov. 18, 1942, in Anderson, to Millard and Lola (Hudson) Edwards, Janet was the beloved wife of Stanley Sandefur, with whom she shared a beautiful love story that began at Best Lock in Indianapolis.

A dedicated homemaker, Janet worked hard to make her home a warm and welcoming space for family and friends. She had a passion for sewing, gardening, and especially for cooking and baking-each dish a delicious expression of love for those around her. Janet also found joy in music, playing the piano and singing at her local church and beyond, sharing her faith through song and word.

Janet is survived by her husband, Stanley Sandefur; her children, Tammy (Mark) Rayl, Brian (Ingrid) Sandefur, and Jeff (Jaime) Sandefur; siblings, Howard (Phyliss) Edwards and Joan Foley; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; her infant son, Kevin Sandefur; and her sister, Jean McShurley.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon at Bozell Funeral Homes & Crematory, Lapel Chapel, 1010 N. Main St., Lapel.

A funeral service will follow visitation starting at noon on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will conclude services in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
