ALEXANDRIA [mdash] Jimmie Lee "Scotty" Scott, 73, passed away at his residence on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, following an extended illness.
He was born on April 24, 1946, in Anderson, to James Richard and Mildred Virginia (Hensley) Scott. He attended Frankton schools. Jimmie served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1999 from AT&T after 30 years of employment.
He owned and operated the Last Roundup Bar in Alexandria for several years. He was a member of the Chesterfield American Legion Post 408 and a member of the former Alexandria Veterans of the Foreign War. Jimmie enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening. He devoted himself to his family and the time he spent with them was very precious to him.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Daniel) Ross of Indianapolis; sons, Travis (Amber) Scott of Anderson, and Benjamin (Stephanie) Scott of Alexandria; grandchildren, Claira, Silas, Mckenzy and Dylan Ross, Bailey Gilmore, and Isaac Scott and Raeleigh Scott; special grands, Ethel the pig and Lucy the cat; brother, Terry Scott of Sparta, Tennessee; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Anthony "Tony" Scott; sister, Sandra Ibarra; sister-in-law, Delores Scott.
Services honoring Jimmie's life and legacy will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Chaplain Rob Mifflin officiating. Military honors will close the services followed by cremation.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
A private inurnment will take place at Anderson Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude's Children Hospital with envelopes available at the funeral home.
