Anderson, IN - Jimmy Dale "Jim" Lester, 81, of Anderson, passed away on May 5, 2026, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born on Sept. 26, 1944, in Medora, Indiana, to Otto and Lillian (Murray) Lester. He graduated from Madison Heights High School in the class of 1962.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1966.
He married Cecelia Duckworth on Nov. 9, 1968.
Jim worked production at Delco Remy for 30 years and retired on March 31, 1996. He was a member of the UAW 662.
He attended at Cross Roads Global Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, watching college football and basketball, racing and gardening. He always had a huge vegetable garden every year at his home.
Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cecelia (Duckworth) Lester of Anderson; son, Roger Dale Lester of Seymour; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and five siblings, Martha J. Lester, Kathryn Shelton, Bertha Stratton Hill, Emmett Lester, and Dos Lester.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Cross Roads Global Methodist Church with Pastor Shannon Rogers officiating.
Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2026, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to Riley Children's Hospital or Cross Roads Global Methodist Church.
