Joan Abney, 87, of Pendleton, passed away Nov. 23, 2012, at Rawlins House in Pendleton, Ind. She was born April 30, 1925, in Madison County and resided most of her life in Markleville. Joan graduated from Markleville High School. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and craft-making. Joan was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Joan is survived by her children, Michael (Debbie) Abney of Anderson, Vici (Terry) Schlabach of Wilkinson, Holly (Ross) Fadely of Wilkinson and Shelley (Daniel) Calvert of Fortville. She is also survived by brothers and sisters, Howard Heath, Bill (Mary) Heath, Margie Myers and Alice (Heath) Griffin; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, George Abney; mother, Martha L. (Stohler) Heath; father, Willard C. Heath; and two brothers, Ronnie Heath and Donnie Heath. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson. Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, officiated by the Revs. Rick Schoeff and Tom Wiles. Cremation will take place. Memorial contributions may be made, through the funeral home, to a charity of the donor's choice. Post online condolences at www.loosecares.com.
