Elwood, IN - JoAnn Houser passed away at Elwood Health and Living on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2026.
She was born Jan. 15, 1932, in Anderson, was raised in Enfield, Illinois, and then moved back to Anderson in the 1940's.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, William C. Houser; four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her only daughter, Abby Herrington and son-in-law Peter Herrington of Elwood; niece, Sharon Goble of Anderson; grandchildren, Wesley Wideman and Courtney Wideman; great-grandchildren, Ethan Wideman and Leland Wideman.
She was a longtime member of the Elwood and Anderson congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses. She loved spending time talking to people about the Bible and sharing the Bible's hope for a better future.
JoAnn and William traveled all over this beautiful country, but their favorite places were Brown County State Park and Crystal Lake in Beulah, Michigan.
A memorial service is planned at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Anderson on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. with Greg Murphy officiating.
