John B. Ullom
March 7, 1931 - March 24, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John B. Ullom, son of Robert and Helen Ullom, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, at the age of 94.
A proud Navy veteran and Honor Flight 31 recipient, John dedicated his life to service and honor. He was a man who exemplified commitment, kindness, and integrity in everything he did. He was also a cherished member of the Masonic Lodge, where his contributions to the community and his sense of brotherhood left a lasting impact.
For 37 years, John worked at Delco GM, a place where his strong work ethic and dedication were greatly admired.
In his personal life, he had many passions that brought him joy and fulfillment. He was a skilled woodworker, often found at Lakey Sawmill, crafting beautiful boxes and specialty pieces.
He loved nothing more than spending time on annual fishing trips, enjoying the company of friends and family. Traveling with his wife, Joann, and their close friends brought him immense happiness. He enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Joann (Muncie); his brother, Fred Ullom, Chesterfield; and his sons, Duane Ullom, Logansport, and Jon Ullom, Chesterfield, Michigan.
He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Zach (Megan) Ullom, Yorktown, Kelsey (Charlie) Akers, Monticello, Nicolas Duvoisin, San Diego, California, and Brandy (John) Pewinski, Armada, Michigan; and great-grandchildren, Colton Ullom, Reed Akers, and Rory Akers.
He leaves behind a wide circle of family, friends, and loved ones who were fortunate to share his contagious sense of humor.
A celebration of John's life, where we will honor his memory and his remarkable legacy, will be held on April 9, 2025, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, Muncie.
Visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with memorial and graveside service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Honor Flight at "IndyHonorFlight.org" in his honor. Indy Honor Flight, P.O. Box 10, Plainfield, IN 46168.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
