Julia Etchison (A. "Julie") Obituary
Alexandria, Indiana - Julia "Julie" A. (Brown) Etchison, 76, met her Lord and Savior face to face from Community Hospital in Anderson on Thursday, May 28, 2026, following an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 16, 1950, in Anderson to Harold and Anna Belle (Little) Brown and was a lifetime resident of Alexandria.
Julie was a graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School, Class of 1968.
Julie was a long-time, faithful attendee and member of the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene. Over her 76 years, she volunteered in a number of areas, including teaching Sunday school, helping with children's programs, singing both solos and in/with the choir & praise team. At one point, Julie accepted the official position as the church office secretary, a role that she served lovingly in for 10 years.
In her most recent position, Julie was a customer service representative for Gaither Music Company for 13 years. She truly felt "at home" with her dear friends and colleagues that she got to interact with daily, each of whom had a hand in making her feel special, necessary and loved. We thank you for that. Speaking of "home," her most favorite place to spend time was at the library. Reading was a true passion of hers, so much so that she had cards for both the Alexandria and Anderson libraries. She would enjoy reading anything she could get her hands on, but fiction was her favorite. Julie held a variety of titles over the years, but her most cherished was "Mimi."
There was no book, job or singing opportunity that was more important to her than spending time with and hearing stories about her favorite (only) grandchild, Abby, whom she affectionately referred to as "baby girl." The pride that would radiate from her in those interactions was infectious, and that image and those feelings will forever be etched in our hearts and minds.
For all of us, Julie was dearly loved for the beautiful voice that God gifted her with. Her voice has ministered to many down through the years, in times of joy and in times of sorrow. Our hope is that her God-given gift of singing will forever be a sweet song in the ears of everyone who had the opportunity to hear it.
May we all take comfort in knowing that Julie is in the comforting embrace of the One we put our hope and trust in, our Lord and Savior Jesus.
