Anderson, IN - Kathleen S. Rich was born on Sept. 20, 1937, in Charleston, Missouri. She passed at the age of 88 on July 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with an extended illness. She peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of her family.

A devoted member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Anderson, Indiana, Kathleen instilled in her children and grandchildren deep understanding of God's love and the importance of trusting in their Christian faith.

She began her secondary education at Fontbonne College and, with determination, completed her bachelor's degree in Social Work in her late 40s. Kathleen furthered her education by earning a master's degree in Social Work and dedicated many years as a mental health counselor at Grant Blackford in Hartford City, Indiana, where she made a lasting difference in the lives of many.

An avid reader and talented writer, Kathleen was a published author of two murder mystery books, which have become treasured collectibles. She was also a proud member of the Mystery Writers of America, sharing her passion for storytelling with a wider community.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Roy J. and Beatrice Stocking; her husband, Harold E. Rich (1984); and her sister-in-law, Ann Stocking.

She is survived by her children; Harold E. Rich (Robin Ellis), Deborah A. Rich, Daniel S. Rich (Rhonda Rich), and Nora E. Gray (Brian Gray). Also, surviving are her siblings, Maureen Stocking, Roy J. Stocking, Eileen Reeder (Bob Reeder), and Micki Schaeffer (Bob Schaeffer). Kathleen's legacy continues through her grandchildren; Jeremy Rich, Matthew Rich, Eric Rich, Bethany Mayer, Michael Rich, and Joseph Gray.

She will be remembered for her faith, kindness, strength, creativity, and lifelong commitment to helping others.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2026, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 2801 Lincoln St., Anderson. Burial will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Anderson.
