Kenneth "Kenny/Sonny" Saunders, of Anderson, passed away peacefully on Dec. 19, 2023, at Community Hospital Anderson.

He was born July 8, 1931, at home in Ovid, Indiana, to the late Edwin and Zona (Begley) Saunders.

Kenneth graduated from Markleville High School in 1950. Shortly after, he began working at Delco Remy. He became a journeyman tool and die maker after serving his apprenticeship and retired after 42 years.

Kenneth faithfully served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He and his wife enjoyed traveling and camping, they spent over 20 winters in Yuma, Arizona. Kenneth loved gardening, yard work, and showing and working on old cars.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth; parents; brother; sister; and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his children, Tony Saunders of Pendleton, and Sheila Saunders of Santa Clara, California; grandchildren, Andrew Cyrus of San Jose, California, and Casey Cyrus of Santa Clara, California; and nephews, Mark Saunders and Jeff Saundes, both of Ovid.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at Mount Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Ovid.
