Anderson, IN - Kristina A. (Heavilin) Washington of Anderson went to Heaven on April 12, 2026.

She was born to A. Waine and Carneta (Teter) Heavilin on Dec. 5, 1938, in Kokomo.

Kristina was a graduate of Kokomo High School (1956) and of Indiana Business College (1957).

She met Richard Washington while working at Crescent Dairy (Kokomo) in high school. They married on May 4, 1958, and moved to Anderson in 1968, when Richard transferred to Guide Lamp.

A lifelong Quaker, she was active in the Friends church and was a year hospice volunteer until her MS interfered.

Kristina was blessed to be a stay-at-home mother who also helped care for her grandchildren.

A devotee of Jeopardy (often knowing the answers) she also enjoyed reading, crosswords, Wheel of Fortune, baking, and sewing. She won state fair prizes as a member of Morning Star Smocking club.

Kristina is survived by her son and caregiver, Gregory Washington; daughter, Teresa Dowers, Douglas (Christine) Washington and Matthew (Marlena) Washington; grandchildren, Paul, Emily, Mark, Jessica, and Kenneth Washington, Kristina Jones, Stephen (Alexandra) Dowers, Samantha Brown, and Cameron Vest; great-grandchildren, Richard Jones, Keeleigh and Jayce Patton, Courtney Jr., I'Zaiah, and Kashton Conner, and Skylar Dowers; and sister-in-law, Teresa Heavilin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Bruce and Stephen Heavilin; son-in-law, Jeff Dowers; sister-in-law, Rebecca Heavilin; infant granddaughter, Sarah Dowers, and best friend, Lynn Kennard.

The family would like to extended a special thank you to Paradigm Hospice for all their love and care for Kristina.
