Pendleton, Indiana - Larry Earle Boram, died peacefully in his sleep in his home on Dec. 27, 2025.

Larry was born Nov. 5, 1936, the second of Luther Boram and Helen (Stanley) Boram's four sons.

He was preceded in death by his brilliant wife, Sherry (Rencenberger) Boram, to whom he was married for 65 years; brother, Gerald Boram; sister-in-law, Laura Lee (Fesler) Boram; niece, Cindy Boram; sister-in-law, Joan Kerfoot, and her husband, Walt Kerfoot.

He is survived by daughter, Lori Boram; daughter, Leigh Boram and her partner, John McDaniel; granddaughter, Kristen Krueger and her partner, Chris Sidebottom; brother, Merle Jay Boram and his wife, Connie; brother, Stanley Boram and his wife, Sue; nephew, Mark Boram; niece, Beth Cannon and her husband, John; niece, Amy Lawson; nephew, Brent Boram; nephew, Chris Preston and his wife, Regina; nephew, Jay Boram and his wife, Desire; niece, Joy Boram-Melton and her wife, Cathy; niece, Jan Boram; nephew, Greg Kerfoot and his wife, Heather; niece, Karen Salee and her husband, Scott; and many extended family members.

In his youth, Larry worked at his grandparents' farm before taking a job at the local grocery store. After graduating from Pendleton High School in 1954, Larry and his good friend, Leonard Bond, attended barber college in Indianapolis. He went on to build Larry's Barber Shop at the southwest corner of Pendleton Avenue and High Street.

He thoroughly enjoyed his profession and became very involved with the town, sponsoring little league teams, building soap box derby cars, and several parade floats.

He married musician, educator, and fiber artist, Sherry Rencenberger, at First Christian Church, on June 29, 1958. They had two daughters, one year apart, and named them Leigh and Lori Boram. In 1961, Larry and Sherry designed and built their family home where they lived for 60 years. During that time, they built many things in the community including redwood benches for Falls Park at the corner of Pendleton Avenue and Water Street, carved wooden signs marking the entrance to the town, and Dutch elm furniture for the Historical Museum. In the 1970s, he and Sherry converted a Bluebird school bus into a custom motor home that they used to travel the national parks with "their girls." He and Sherry enjoyed spending time fishing at Turtle Creek Reservoir near their "fishing palace" in Merom, Indiana. He visited 49 states, Mexico, Canada, the UK, and Ireland. He said there are nice places to live all over the country, but he likes it right here in Pendleton.

After closing the barber shop, he worked for Ford Motor Company until his retirement, during which he and Sherry traveled the country and made homes away from home in their charming Airstream trailers in Mesa, Arizona and Copper Hill, Virginia. They also constructed a wood shop at their home that became a fixture for friends to work on woodworking projects and drink plenty of coffee. In 2014 Larry, Sherry, and several other local artists founded the Pendleton Artists Society and the gallery and classroom space at 119 State Street. They did a lot of work to renovate and build out the space. Larry enjoyed oil painting, designing furniture, and teaching young folks woodworking. He loved the arts and classical music - especially anything Sherry played on her piano.

Larry will be remembered for his generosity, integrity, creativity, and hard work. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to play good-natured pranks on his family and friends. He treasured his time with Sherry and the girls and visits with friends in the wood shop and on the front porch.

His girls will miss him but we know he is with his Sher.

Visitation will be held at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory- Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton, from noon to 2 p.m.

The memorial service will begin at 2 p.m.
