Lawana J. Copeland, 86, passed away on Sept. 11, 2025.
Lawana was born on March 6, 1939, to Juanita and James L Flye. Lawana was a graduate of Anderson High School and resided all her life in Anderson.
Lawana was a member of Second Baptist Church for over 70 years, serving on the Junior Choir, Young Women's Missionary, Senior Usher Board, and Kitchen Committee.
Lawana is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Copeland; children, William (Jan) Brown Jr., Vincent (Carles) Brown, James M. (Melanie) Copeland, John (Marcella) Copeland, Faye (Isaiah) Lurry; brother, James L. (Twila) Flye Jr.; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at Glazebrooks Funeral Services, 2822 Nichol Ave.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Second Missionary Baptist Church, 230 W. 14th St., with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial in Anderson Memorial Park.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
