Linnie "Thelma" (Phillips) Smith, 86, of Anderson, died on Jan. 31, 2013, at Community Hospital Anderson, following an extended illness. She was born on Sept. 25, 1926, in Overton County, Tenn., the daughter of Ernest and Winnie Phillips. She retired as the dietary supervisor at St. John's Hospital in Anderson. She was a member of the Columbus Avenue Church of Christ. She loved working word search puzzles and enjoyed baking. She is survived by her three sons, Art Smith of Allons, Tenn., Don Smith of Anderson and Ken (wife, Ann) Smith of Juneau, Alaska.; four grandchildren, Bill (Kelli) Arnold, Brenda Dillmon, Tom Smith and Kevin Smith; six great-grandchildren, Katrina Arnold, Billy Arnold, Brandon Smith, Brant Wells, Grant Wells and Daniel Smith; two great-great-grandchildren, Zoey and Jayden Lines; several nieces and nephews; and special friend and caregiver, Brett Eversole. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alonzo "Keen" Smith, whom she married June 25 1946; three daughters, Polly Smith, Beverly Gail Smith and Peggy Smith; four sisters, Stella Harvey, Bithie Conner, Sally Herman and Rosie Johnson; three brothers, John Phillips, Cordell Phillips and Casper Phillips. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, 229 S. Rangeline Road, Anderson, with Jim Harrison officiating. Burial will take place at East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
