Lou Jean Shelton Obituary

Lou Jean Shelton, 92, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025.

Born on Aug. 1, 1932, in London, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Joseph and Lilly (Lanham) Bundy.

In 1954, Lou Jean married Jewell J. Shelton. Together, they moved to Indiana and eventually made their home in Anderson in 1966, where they raised their family and built a life filled with love and countless memories.

Lou Jean was a devoted homemaker and caregiver, watching over many children throughout the years. She was also a master seamstress — there was truly nothing she couldn't sew. From wedding dresses to cozy quilts, Lou Jean's talents were unmatched and cherished by many.

She had a fun-loving spirit, enjoying occasional travels and especially loved a good trip to the casino to play the penny slots. Above all, Lou Jean adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was warm and approachable, always ready to help anyone in need — but she wasn't afraid to be a little feisty when the moment called for it.

Lou Jean is survived by her sons, Raymond (Leigh) Shelton and Michael (Lisa) Shelton; grandchildren, Linzi (Kevin), Samantha, Rebecca (Neil), Tate, and Taylor (Josh); and great-grandchildren, Gavin, Luke, Baylee, Nash, and Halstyn.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jewell J. Shelton; her parents, Joseph and Lilly Bundy; and her great-granddaughter, Kailyn Jewell Horsley.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Legacy Funeral Home.

Lou Jean's legacy of love, generosity, and creativity will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her.
