Marilyn Louise DeHaven Obituary

Fort Myers, FL - Marilyn Louise DeHaven, 78, left her earthly life to be in heaven on July 17, 2025, at Community Hospital Anderson surrounded by her husband, son, and daughter.

She was born to William and Esther Sinkhorn in Columbus, Indiana, on March 17, 1947. She resided in Fort Myers, Florida, for the past several years after living in Anderson, Indiana for 43 years.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Richard DeHaven; children, Kyle DeHaven of Anderson, Indiana, Kerri (Brian) Bree of Fayetteville, Arkansas; granddaughters, Leah and Noelle Bree; as well as brother, Bill Sinkhorn of Marietta, Georgia; and sister, Connie Sinkhorn of Fort Myers, Florida.

She was a graduate of Columbus High School (National Honor Society) and St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. She also attained a master's degree from Ball State University.

She started her career working in accounting for Cummins Engine and then Magnavox as well as an administrative assistant for Blackhawk Baptist Church and Christian School. She then transitioned into marketing and property licensing with Curtis Publishing. Next, her career path led her into healthcare marketing working for I.U. Medical Education Resources and Ball Memorial Hospital, both of which are now part of I.U. Health.

The final chapter of her career allowed her to pursue her love of art by owning and operating Grande Junction Galleria, a custom framing and art store, in Anderson. She was a member and recipient of multiple awards from the Professional Picture Framers Association. Her motto was, "Frame a memory."

She was a former member of Anderson Rotary and attended Madison Park Church. She loved her family and enjoyed reading, art, puzzles, word-search, sudoku, and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially cruises, most recently going to Greece and Turkey. She placed a high value on spending time with family and had just returned from visiting the loves of her life, her twin granddaughters, and enjoying the trees of the Ozarks, which she often sketched.

Her wishes were to be cremated with no funeral service. A private celebration of life with the family will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to:

The Dubin Center (where no one faces dementia alone)

12685 New Brittany Blvd.
