Anderson, IN - Marilyn (Schetter) Dorris, 92, of Anderson, passed away on Dec. 12, 2025, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus.
She was born on June 29, 1933, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Ralph and Marian (Wilkins) Schetter.
Marilyn graduated from Indiana University in 1955 and married Robert W. Dorris on Dec. 21, 1957. She taught school at Shortridge High School from 1955-1958, and then taught as a substitute teacher at Anderson High School for over 30 years, from 1980-2013.
Marilyn was involved with all sports and activities at Anderson High School; AHS yearbook, A Club, and Boys Basketball Booster Club during her time at Anderson High School. In the community she was active with Victoria Guild (past president), Visiting Nurse Healthcare, AAUW, Belles Lettres study group, and First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her four children, Allison Dorris, Kristin (Stephen) Sturtz, Robin Dorris Cremeens, and Jonathan Dorris; grandchildren, Kasey, Shelby, and Jody Sturtz, Alexa (Christopher) Economos, Anna and Nathan Dorris; great-grandchildren, Eliana Williamson, Leo and Zoe Economos.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Dorris; son-in-law, Joseph Cremeens; grandson, Jacob Rhodus; sister, Anita Schetter.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church, Anderson.
Visitation will be held at the church two hours prior to the service on Saturday.
A reception will be held following the service, in the church fellowship hall.
Memorial contributions may be given to First Presbyterian Church or Anderson High School Booster's Club.
