Marjorie A. Matchett


ELWOOD - Marjorie A. (Hiatt) Matchett, 95, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019, at the Summit Health and Living Center in Summitville following an extended illness.
She was born on Feb. 16, 1924, in Elwood, daughter of Wilbur and Mable (Florea) Hiatt, and resided in Elwood most of her life.
She married Paul Matchett on Jan. 11, 1942. Marjorie was a graduate of the class of 1941 from Summitville High School.
Marjorie was an avid seamstress and gardener, she was a farmer at heart - she loved to be out working on the family farm. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. God was ever present in Marjorie's life, she and Paul were always active members of the Summitville First Baptist Church. She loved spending time at their family cabin on Lake Tippecanoe, surrounded by family.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Becky (Schleeter) Matchett; two granddaughters, Michelle (Matchett) and Brian Robbins of Fortville, and Molly Matchett of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Hannah and Ethan Robbins, Keegan and Macy Matchett-Ricci; sister, Martha (Hiatt) Matchett; brother, Dean Hiatt; and several nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Matchett; sons, Allan and Melvin Matchett; brother, John Hiatt.
Services honoring Marjorie's life and legacy will take place at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, at Owens-Noffze Funeral Home, 1009 W. Walnut St., Summitville, with Chaplain Don Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Forrestville Cemetery, Boone Township.
Friends may call at the Owens-Noffze Funeral Home after 3:30 p.m. prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Summitville First Baptist Church or Beauty for Ashes with envelopes available at the funeral home.
