Martha E. Keaton
SUMMITVILLE [mdash] Martha E. DeLong Keaton, 86, passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, at Summit Health and Living in Summitville following an extended illness.
She was born on Aug. 28, 1933, in Alexandria, to James and Mildred (Greenlee) Jones, and had lived in Summitville for most of her lifetime. She had worked for Fairmount Wire for 23 years, retiring in 1990. She worked in the middle school cafeteria and Summitville school cafeteria for the Madison-Grant School Corp., retiring in 2009.
Martha attended the Wesleyan Bible Holiness Church in Summitville. She enjoyed gardening, soap making, the time she spent with her family and was very devoted to her church.
She is survived by her husband, Harlen Keaton; daughter, Malinda (Terry) Phillips of Summitville; sons, Greg DeLong, Terry (Karen) DeLong, Brad (Rebecca) DeLong, all of Summitville; grandchildren, Chris (Christina) Phillips, Scott (Amber) Phillips, Amy (Nick) Haulter, Luke (Roxie) DeLong, Abigail DeLong, Heather (Bill) Bugby, Laura (Andy) Sizelove, and Paige (Josh) Julian; great-grandchildren, Emma Phillips, Garrett Phillips, Wyatt Sizelove, Hailee Sizelove, Jenna Johnson, Jessa Johnson and Jasmine Johnson, Brantley Yeagy, Emberlee Yeagy, Destiny Lawson, Isaac Contreras, Miguel Julian, Antonia Julian, Marcus Julian, Lillie Julian, Austin Phillips, Ryan Phillips, Ty Phillips, Clayton Olson, Madison Olson, Caleb Hendey, Aiden Hendey and Carson Hendey; four great-grandchildren; siblings, David Jones, Lee (Irene) Hollingsworth, Naomi Cox, Mary Shipp, Judy, Barbara and Theresa; several nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Lonnie Keaton of Marion, Rita Keaton of Alexandria, Rex (Debbie) Keaton of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Dan (Mary) Keaton of Peru; 15 stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 52 years, Wilfred "Babe" DeLong in 2002; sister, Zelpha Kuhn; brother, Jimmy Bruce Jones; great-grandson, Trey Lawson; daughter-in-law, Roice DeLong.
Services honoring Martha's life, legacy and faith will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at the Wesleyan Bible Holiness Church, 17345 N. 150E, Summitville, with Pastor Danny Decker officiating. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery in Summitville.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Wesleyan Bible Holiness Church on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. or after 10 a.m. Friday prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wesleyan Bible Holiness Church with envelopes available at the services.
