Melvin "Mel" H. Hallmann, 86, of Anderson, passed away on Dec. 11, 2023. Mel was born on Dec. 20, 1936, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Herman and Emma (Leitow) Hallmann.

Mel was married to the love of his life Karen Hallmann for 61 wonderful years. Mel graduated and received is bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan. He then worked for Delco Remy for 40 years as a mechanical engineer, and was a licensed professional engineer. Mel was also inducted into the Delphi Engineering Hall of Fame.

He was devoted to Christ Lutheran Church where he liked worshiping the Lord. Mel enjoyed the Middletown Lions Club, where he was past president and secretary. He was co-chairman of the Middletown Lions Fair for over 30 years.

Mel will be missed by his loving wife, Karen; son, Steven Hallmann; daughters, Nancy (Frank) Shaw and Suzanne (Greg) Richter; grandchildren, Sarah (Chad) Fagan, Rachel Wagner, Drew Richter, and Daniel Richter; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Emma; brother, Donald Hallmann; and sisters, Luella Kaul-Markel and Norine Hales.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, at Christ Lutheran Church, 2751 Scatterfield Road, Anderson.

The funeral ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to Christ Lutheran Church or Middletown Lions Clubs.
