Morris D. Hull ('Morrie')
January 7, 1945 - September 6, 2025
In the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, Morris D. "Morrie" Hull, 80, met his Lord and Savior face to face from his residence following a 2-year illness.
He was born on Jan. 7, 1945, in Alexandria, to Colonel and Elizabeth (Morris) Hull, and was a lifetime Summitville resident.
Morrie was a graduate of Summitville High School-Class of 1963. He worked for General Motors from 1964 to 1970. He dedicated the rest of his life to planting and harvesting God's nature by farming for more than 63 years.
He had been active in the Summitville Baptist Church where he had been song leader for some time. More recently, he had attended the Alexandria First Baptist Church.
Morrie was always quick to share his wit, positive outlook and his faith and he never met a stranger. One of his favorite pastimes was sharing coffee time with his friends at the Circle K in Summitville He enjoyed camping and spending summers at their lake house in Morgan County. An avid fly fisherman, Morrie also made his own flies and lures. He was a follower of Purdue athletics and the #1 fan of his grandchildren's athletic activities. We will miss his ornery sense of humor; we are also comforted knowing that his faith in Jesus Christ has made Morrie whole.
Survivors include his wife, Donna (Stitt) Hull, whom he married March 15, 1964; daughters, Christy McGuire (Mark) Osler of Granger, Kim Wolfe of Anderson; sons, Curt (Brooke) Hull and Josh (Sarah) Hull, all of Summitville; grandsons, Nathan (Katie) McGuire and Brandon (Allison) McGuire, all of Muncie, Mike (Lauren) Wolfe of Lapel, Wesley (Brenna) Hull and Clayton Hull of Summitville, Elijah Hull of Muncie; granddaughters, Sara McGuire of Yorktown, Jennie Wolfe of Summitville, Jessica (Zach) Day of Chesterfield, Emma Hull and Ellie Hull of Summitville; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Diantha Hull of Eugene, Oregon, Judith (James) Morrical of Summitville; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marian Sue Hull; son-in-law, Donnie McGuire.
Services honoring Morrie's life, legacy and faith will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, at Alexandria First Baptist Church, 2107 S. Park Ave., with Pastor Michael Deutsch officiating. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery, Summitville.
The Hull family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour before service Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital with envelopes available at the services.
Morrie's care and service arrangements have been entrusted to Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
Tree Planting Timeline
Orders placed in:
