Alexandria, Indiana - Nancy Sue Ashbaugh, 83, of Alexandria, passed away on May 9, 2026, at her home in Alexandria.

She was born on Oct. 8, 1942, in Anderson, to her parents, Violet Elizabeth and John Pershing Van Matre.

Nancy attended Anderson High School and continued her education at Ivy Tech Vocational School.

She retired in 1996 from Delco Remy after 30 years of dedicated service.

She was a proud member of UAW 662, MENSA and the National Organization for Women. She had a passion for technology, was known as the family's computer expert, and also enjoyed writing poetry.

Nancy had a nurturing spirit and a generous heart, always ready to offer kindness, support, and a helping hand to anyone in need. She never met a stranger.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Julie McIntosh and Mykala Ashbaugh (Jaylan Allen); brother, John B. Van Matre; daughter-in-law, Catalina Masters; granddaughter, Caina Masters; grandson, Nathanael Masters; and great-grandson, Elijah McIntosh.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leonard W. Ashbaugh and Jerry Lee Masters; sons, Wes and Nick Masters; her parents; and granddaughter, Angel McIntosh.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m. at The Community Room at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.

Cremation will take place.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protection League and/or the American Cancer Society.
