Alexandria, Indiana - ALEXANDRIA — Ralph E. Grose, 88, entered peace and rest on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, from Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson following an extended illness.

He was born on Nov. 5, 1937, in Alexandria, to Allen James and Lena Mae (Vanness) Grose, and was a lifetime Alexandria resident. Ralph was a graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1955. He received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University in 1962. He served in the United States Naval Reserve from 1955 to 1962. Ralph retired from Delco Remy division of General Motors in 1999 after 37 years of employment. He worked in plant engineering and many of those years were spent at Plant 20.

Along with wife Judy and daughters Kim and Rachel, Ralph was co-owner of The Wiggery in Anderson from 1994 to 2023.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Blessed Savior in Alexandria. Ralph served 3 terms on the Alexandia City Council from 1968 to 1980. He was on the Alexandria Community Center Board for several years. Ralph designed the architectural plans for the current Alexandria Fire Department building, the Alexandria Community Center building, the Alexandria American Legion building and several private homes in Alexandria. He and his wife Judy together designed their beloved home of 56 years of happy memories on Chipaway Drive in Alexandria. Ralph and Judy enjoyed decorating, landscaping and maintaining their beautiful home and lawn. They loved having family get togethers during holidays and special occasions both inside, and outside around their swimming pool. For several years they ventured to several different Indiana State Parks to hike with their dogs, Maggie and Molly. They also enjoyed dining at different restaurants. He was an avid fan of the Purdue Boilermakers basketball and football programs. He has been a St. Louis Cardinal fan since he was 14 years old. He enjoyed following the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers. Ralph was honored and recognized as a faithful blood donor having donated over 210 pints through the years. Thank you, Daddy, and Pop for giving us years and years of precious memories.

Survivors include daughters, Kimberly (Richard) Zarse of Alexandria, Rachel (Travis) Bailey of Anderson; son, Robert Grose of Anderson; grandchildren, Aaron (Betsy) Zarse of Alexandria, Micah (Lindsay) Zarse of Clayton, North Carolina, John (Molly) Zarse of Fort Wayne, Brooke Bailey of Muncie, Kate Bailey of Anderson; grandson-in-law, Joe Kelly of Ninevah; great-grandchildren, Riley Zarse, Michael Kelly, Wesley Zarse, Elizabeth Zarse, Thomas Zarse, Levi Kelly, Leo Zarse and Olivia Zarse; sister, Rosalie (Robert) Clamme of Fishers; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (John) Wheeler of Noblesville and Mary Lou Grose of Wabash; brother-in-law, Jim (Debbie) Hocker of Noblesville; several nieces and nephews.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Judy Kay (Hocker) Grose in 2016; infant daughter, Gina Grose; brothers, Richard Grose and John Grose; sister-in-law, Joy Grose; granddaughter, Anna Kelly.

Services honoring Ralph's life and legacy will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Pastor Kal Rissman officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery, Alexandria.

The Grose family will receive friends after 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, at the funeral home prior to the service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Homer's Helpers, the Lutheran Church of Our Blessed Savior with envelopes available at the funeral home. Or you may honor Ralph's legacy by donating a pint of blood in his memory.
