Roselynn L. Brown
August 12, 1930 - May 4, 2025
ALEXANDRIA — Roselynn L. Brown, 94, of Alexandria, went to her heavenly home on May 4, 2025.
She was born Aug. 12, 1930, in Lafayette, to Arthur and Luella (Quint) Burkhardt, and resided most of her life in Alexandria. Roselynn is survived by her children, Lon (Margie) Brown and Connie (Tom) Niessink; grandchildren, Reggie Herman Brown, Robert Brown (Angela) and Aaron Brown (Michelle); great-grandchildren, Adriana Brown, Autumn Brown and Anastasia Brown; special caregiver, and honorary Brown, Amy Mauck and Amy Epstein who also became a very good friend to Roselynn . . . we affectionately called them Amy1 and Amy2.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Herman A. Brown; her parents; and brothers, Norman Burkhardt and Richard Burkhardt.
Roselynn was a Christian and was blessed to live in God's favor all the days of her life. She was a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a lifelong member of Our Blessed Savior Lutheran Church, in Alexandria, where she served in the Ladies Aid, Vacation Bible School, Altar Guild and assisting anywhere help was needed and she was always involved in a Bible Study.
After graduation from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1948, Roselynn enrolled at Purdue University and studied Home Economic for two years and it was there that she met the love of her life, Herman Brown, and got married in 1951. She moved to Alexandria with Herman and became a homemaker . . . and a great homemaker she was. She created a wonderful home life for Herman and for her children, Lon and Connie, to grow up in.
Roselynn was a sports fan and loved watching any sporting event on TV and did so almost every day. She was a true Purdue Boilermaker and she along with her husband Herman were longtime members of the John Purdue Club and football and basketball season ticketholders. She was also a lifelong diehard fan of the Chicago Cubs and watched every single game of every season when the Cubs were broadcast on WGN. She had natural athletic ability and enjoyed bowling with Herman early in their marriage and playing golf in their retirement. Roselynn was an accomplished seamstress and won several blue ribbons in the State Fair for dresses that she made. She also loved to play bridge and was in bridge clubs for over 65 years and was active in Art Circle. She was a true "Lady" . . . an "Elegant Lady" who was always well dressed without over doing it.
In addition to all of Roselynn's accomplishments and interests, she was a very sweet person, an extraordinary and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family and supporting her husband in creating family traditions and a great family atmosphere was very important to her. Simply put, the lives of her husband, children and extended family were better and special because of her and they were very blessed to have her in their lives.
Services celebrating Roselynn's life, legacy and faith will take place at 12 noon on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Our Blessed Savior Lutheran Church, 309 W. Washington St., Alexandria, with Pastor Kal Rissman officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria following the service.
Friends and family are invited to call at the Our Blessed Savior Lutheran Church from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, or after 11 a.m. Saturday prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Our Blessed Savior Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choosing.
The Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria is honored to serve the Brown Family.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
