Ruben Hernandez, 59, passed away on June 12, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 2, 1962, in Brownsville, Texas, to Benito and Serapia (Chapa) Hernandez. Ruben and his family would travel to Madison County, Indiana every year to grow and harvest tomatoes and jalapeno peppers. He loved working the fields, a passion that lasted more than 40 years. Ruben was funny, outgoing, loving, and made memorable impressions with everyone he met. Ruben will be forever missed by his wife of 40 years; his five daughters; and his eight grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Hernandez; children, Cindy Hernandez (Maudyl), Monica Hernandez, Mayra Flores (Alejandro), Jennifer Hernandez (Armando) and Cassandra Hernandez; his eight grandchildren, Alejandro Jr., Isabella, Ruben, Natalia, Ariana, Andrea, Ava, and Aylen; and brother, Benito Hernandez III (Paula).
Ruben was preceded in death by his father, Benito Hernandez; mother, Serapia (Chapa); and his sister, Dora Mejia.
Visitation will be in his hometown, at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista from 1 to 9 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021.
Burial will take place at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m.
