Shawn Dominic Newsom was born Feb. 2, 1964, in the city of Anderson, Indiana, to Roger Newsom and Carla Rogers.
He graduated from Anderson High School. He continued his education at the University of Indiana.
He was employed by General Motors and after 15 years of service he retired.
Of his many joys in life he most enjoyed cooking, old movies, spending time with grandchildren, playing drums, long drives, Sci-Fi and comics.
Shawn was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Kevin Newsom.
He will live on in the hearts of his daughters, Dreama (Lewis Walton) Newsom and Shaiyan (Fransico) Bell, sons, Stephawn (Katie Neuerman) Newsom and Sterling Newsom; siblings, Sidney (Janet) Newsom, Staci Newsom, Maria (Angelo) Muhammad and William (Shonia) Folden; grandchildren, Skylur and Cailen Newsom, Lainey and Lewis Jr. Walton and Jaxson, Tylee and Shaiyan Bell; stepmother, Andrea Watson; mother of his children, Stephanie (Chris) Barbee; close friends, Cheryl Kirksey and Nicara Newsom; along with other relatives and friends.
Memorial service noon Saturday at Glazebrooks Funeral Service, Anderson.
Visitation from 11:30 a.m. until service time.
