ANDERSON -- Thomas E. Abel, 86, of Anderson, passed away on Aug. 5, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born on Nov. 18, 1926, in Anderson, and resided most of his life in Anderson. Thomas graduated from Anderson High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a retired service technician for Sears with 38.5 years of service. He was a member of Kingston Avenue Baptist Church. Thomas is survived by his loving spouse, Eileen (Oliver) Abel of Anderson; sons, Douglas E. (Debbie Jessup) Abel of New Haven, and David A. (Lorri) Abel of Frankton, stepdaughters, Carol Cleavenger of Lawrence, and Brenda (Dwight) Dunham of Marion; brother, Robert Abel; grandchildren, Shelly (Brad) Brighton, Jennifer Abel and Allison (Tyler) Davis; stepgrandchildren, Aaron (Sheri) Dunham, Renee (London Miller) Dunham, Beth Kline and Jon (Sarah) Beeman; one great-grandchild; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Mae (Hitman) Abel; father, John S. Abel; former wife, Nadean Abel; three brothers; and one sister. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
