William "Bill" E. Van Duyn Obituary

Anderson, IN - ANDERSON - William "Bill" Edward Van Duyn, 86, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born on Oct. 16, 1939, in New Castle, Indiana, to the late Isaac R. and Beulah (Pitts) Van Duyn.

Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and spent many years as a skilled tool and die maker for General Motors. He was also a member of the Madison County Shriners Club.

On July 27, 1985, Bill married the love of his life, Arlene. Together they shared a passion for traveling and would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year.

Bill loved shooting guns, as well as shooting arrows, woodworking, collecting Marvin the Martian, and reading science fiction - especially Star Trek. Known for his humor, he enjoyed telling jokes, teasing his grandkids, and staying active.

Bill is survived by his wife, Arlene Van Duyn; daughter, Karen Van Duyn-Rusk; son, Jim (Kelly) Tumulty; son, Larry (Sherry) Tumulty; daughter, Lynda (Sam) Key; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to their special caregiver, Lisa Martin, for her loving care and support.

He was preceded in death by parents, Isaac and Beulah Van Duyn; son, Kevin Van Duyn; brother, John Van Duyn; and great-grandson, Warren Key.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St, Anderson IN 46013, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

The funeral service will begin at 6 p.m. with Chaplain Rob Mifflin officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's in honor of Bill.
